How to Root OnePlus 3T Smart Android Device Safely And Easily

OnePlus 3T is one of the top Smart Phone of 2017. Which gives you a good power with a 6GB of RAM and a Snapdragon chipset. You can make even powerful by Rooting it, when you Root your OnePlus 3T you get the access with hundreds of Root only Apps to increase the actual power, remove Blotwares and also can flash into new Custom ROMs.

Rooting an OnePlus phone is not as hard as some other companies, OnePlus 3T does not have so many restrictions and all to Root. It is very flexible to Root OnePlus Phones, as the company had the CyanogenMod as their stock OS once. Now coming to the point, Rooting OnePlus 3T also very easy as the previous Phones of the company do. Follow the guide below carefully and obtain a perfect Root access.

 

Things you should know before starting

  • Rooting your OnePlus 3T will void your warranty as usual. Also you have to Root your device on your own risk.
  • Install ADB Suite and set it up on your PC before you begin
  • This Rooting guide down below here, is written is based on the windows version ADB, if you are using any other OS, the steps could be a bit different.
  • Make a complete back up of your Device, as the Bootloader unlocking procedure will completely erase your Device
  • This procedure down below is only for OnePlus 3T, don’t try this method for any other Android Devices.
    (trying this method on other Devices can give you hard brick.

 

How to Root OnePlus 3T

In order Root OnePlus 3T, first thing is to unlock the Bootloader, flash a Custom Recovery and then finally gain Root access by flashing the SuperSU through the custom Recovery.

Required files

Download all the files into your PC.

  • Download TWRP Recovery
  • Download SuperSU 
  • Download No-Verify

Unlocking the Bootloader on the OnePlus 3T

  • On your OnePlus 3T go to Settings > About Phone and tap on the Built number for 7 times and it will say you’re a developer.
  • Go to Settings > Developer Option and turn on USB Debugging
  • Go to Settings > Developer Option and turn on OEM Unlocking
  • Go to Settings > Developer Option and turn on Advance Reboot
  • Reboot your Device infastboot mode
    (turn off your device and turn it on by holding the volume up and power buttons together for a while to reboot into fastboot mode)
  • Now plug in your OnePlus 3T into the PC via USB cable. (an Original USB cable is recommended)
  • Open the ADB folder (located in the C drive in your PC) and open Command window here.
    (while holding the shift, right click anywhere on the folder and click Open command window)
  • Now type in the below command in the command prompt and press Enter
    fastboot devices
  • Your Device will be shown in the list, now enter the following command and press Enter
    fastboot oem unlock
  • Now follow the on screen instructions, in order to unlock the Bootloader on your Device.
  • Once the Bootloader is unlocked, proceed the below command on the windows command prompt
    fastboot reboot
  • Now your Device should Reboot

Now the Bootloader of your OnePlus 3T has been successfully unlocked, let’s go ahead and flash the custom recovery (TWR Recovery) on your Device.

Flashing a Custom Recovery (TWRP Recovery) and Root OnePlus 3T

  1. On your OnePlus 3T go to Settings > About Phone and tap on the Built number for 7 times and it will say you’re a developer.
  2. Go to Settings > Developer Option and turn on USB Debugging
  3. Go to Settings > Developer Option and turn on OEM Unlocking
  4. Go to Settings > Developer Option and turn on Advance Reboot
  5. Now copy both the SuperSU.zip and No-Verify.zip files you downloaded, into the internal storage of your device.
  6. Again Reboot your Device into fastboot mode
    (turn off your device and turn it on by holding the volume up and power buttons together for a while to reboot into fastboot mode)
  7. Now copy TWRP Recovery.img file into the ADB folder.
  8. And then rename file as recovery
  9. Now open windows command prompt from the ADB folder
    (while holding the shift, right click anywhere on the folder and click Open command window)
  10. Type in the below command into the command prompt and press Enter
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
  11. Now wait for it to flash TWRP Recovery into your Device
  12. Once the Recovery is flashed, don’t reboot your Device. Instead, you can directly boot into recovery mode and flash SuperSu to gain Root access by entering the below command
    fastboot boot recovery.img
  13. Now when you enter TWRP, is askes if you would like to allow system modification, just swipe right to allow
  14. In the main menu of TWRP Recovery mode click on install.
  15. And navigate to the internal storage and select No-Verify file to be installed in your Device.
  16. On swipe the Swipe to Confirm Flash to begin flashing
  17. Tap on format data on the next screen
  18. Wait for it to format the data on your Device
  19. When the formatting is done, just click install and navigate to the internal storage and select SuperSU.zip to be installed on to the Device
  20. Now swipe on the Swipe to Confirm Flash to flash the SuperSU
  21. Once the SuperSU is successfully flashed into the device, reboot your OnePlus 3T by tapping on Reboot followed in the screen.

Now your OnePlus 3T is successfully Rooted, and the reboot will take a while to create some of the boot files, which are wiped off in the above procedure. After the reboot, now you have an unlocked and Rooted OnePlus 3T on you hand.
